White Mountain Manor: AN ELEGANT HOME in Lancaster, NH
Located in the charming town of Lancaster, NH, White Mountain Manor was designed to be a stately, elegant family home with a perfect balance of updated and traditional styles. The client envisioned a space that would reflect classic, timeless beauty while providing the functionality and comfort needed for modern family living. Every room was thoughtfully planned to create an atmosphere of sophistication and warmth, ensuring that each space would feel both inviting and refined. The design embraces traditional elements while incorporating subtle modern updates to create a seamless and harmonious flow throughout the home.
One of the standout features of this project was the extensive use of tile, which became a central design element in several key areas of the house. The kids' bathroom, laundry room, and the backsplash in the butler’s pantry were all treated as opportunities for creative expression. The tile choices added texture, color, and character to the home, making each space feel unique and thoughtfully designed. The main bathroom, in particular, was a show-stopper, with an over-the-top design that earned a Best of Bathroom Design Award in New Hampshire. This space was a true labor of love, showcasing the attention to detail and design expertise that went into the entire home.
The home also features several remarkable details that set it apart from others. The fireplace surrounds in both the family dining room and living room are faux painted to mimic elegant materials, with the living room fireplace complementing the marble and the family dining room’s surround coordinating with the tile. One of the most intriguing elements of the home is the walnut study. Initially, the contractor had ordered white doors and windows for this room, but I wanted the space to exude the traditional, refined British office. To achieve this, I had the doors and windows faux painted to match the rich walnut tones, ensuring the room had a cohesive and sophisticated look. This project was truly a labor of love, with the painter spending six months on-site to achieve the desired finish, making every detail of the home a testament to timeless craftsmanship.
