Family TRAILSIDE RETREATS IN PARK CITY, UTAH
These two condo owners aimed to update their second homes with a primary focus on maximizing design impact while being mindful of their budget. Our favorite part of this project was witnessing the transformation of these homes. Previously, the condos were stuck in early 2000s ski design, characterized by interiors that were dark and drab. However, the homes underwent a dramatic revitalization with the introduction of new flooring, door and cabinet hardware, paint colors, light fixtures, furniture and area rugs. The first major change involved installing new flooring and removing the old, worn carpet. This simple yet effective update instantly revitalized the spaces, making them feel clean, modern, and inviting. The fresh paint breathed new life into the walls and on the cabinets, while door hardware and light fixtures added a contemporary touch that bridged the gap between modern design and cozy mountain retreat.
One of the standout features of these renovations was the selection of dining room light fixtures. In both condos, these fixtures played a crucial role in defining and anchoring the dining spaces while enhancing the overall ambiance, and adding a touch of elegance. The light fixtures were chosen for their aesthetic appeal and ability to cast a warm, welcoming glow, transforming the dining areas into inviting gathering spots. Additional under cabinet lighting was added to the kitchen to improve task lighting. Table and floor lamps were added to allow for a softer and more dimensional light than only ceiling cans can offer.
In addition to these changes, the owners chose renter-friendly furniture that complemented the updated look and feel of the spaces. Removing the worn and out-of-date furniture finalized the transformation and allowed us to further reflect each client’s aesthetic and lifestyle. The choices ensured that the condos looked stylish while offering functionality and comfort for both the owners and future renters. The furniture selections were made with durability in mind. The pieces provide a practical solution without sacrificing aesthetic appeal. Overall, the renovation of these second homes was a rewarding experience. The thoughtful updates and careful attention to detail resulted in spaces that are not only visually stunning but also highly functional and welcoming. The transformation from dark and outdated to bright and contemporary is a testament to the power of design and the impact it can have on the overall atmosphere of a home.
