Family Ski Lodge: MOUNTAIN RETREAT IN FRANCONIA, NH
Nestled in the picturesque town of Franconia, NH, this family ski lodge is the epitome of warmth, comfort, and togetherness, carefully designed to create a welcoming haven for family members of all ages. Located in the heart of the mountains, the home serves as both a relaxing retreat and a place for lasting memories, bringing loved ones closer in the serene beauty of the natural surroundings. The clients envisioned a spacious retreat that could comfortably accommodate their large family, with versatile spaces that balance the needs of both adults and children. Every area of the home was thoughtfully designed to foster togetherness, especially the kitchen and dining area, which serves as the heart of the home. This central gathering space was specifically tailored to host extended family gatherings, where meals are shared, and memories are created, making it the ideal place for holiday celebrations or cozy family dinners.
One of the most rewarding aspects of this project was the opportunity to transform an existing, much smaller home into a spacious ski lodge that would provide the perfect setting for generations of family memories. Preserving the original structure’s charm while integrating it into a larger, more functional layout was a challenge that was both inspiring and fulfilling. By working closely with the architect, we were able to seamlessly expand the floor plan, blending the old and new in a way that felt natural and cohesive.
Special attention was given to the details throughout the lodge to make it both functional and visually appealing. One of the standout features is the niche over the stove, which combines both form and function, offering a delightful focal point that enhances the kitchen’s design while providing practical storage. Another feature that truly captures the spirit of family is the creatively designed bunk room. This space was designed to maximize every inch of available space, accommodating as many children as possible in a thoughtful and playful way. The bunk room not only serves as a cozy retreat for the kids but also reflects the home’s family-focused atmosphere, where children’s laughter and energy are at the forefront. Every element of this project speaks to the joy of creating a space that nurtures family connection and shared experiences, offering a perfect blend of beauty, practicality, and lasting memories for years to come.
